me to hubbie:  “There is only one thing that would make this popcorn better.

husband:  “What’s that?”

me to hubbie:  “Wearing a new pair of boots, while eating Sweet & Salty Popcorn!”

WARNING:  What you are about to see, might cause you to get off your butt and pull out your oil popper.  One taste of the finished concoction leads to addiction!



You will need:

  • An oil popper ( Westbend -Stir Crazy is our favorite)
  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 cup popcorn oil – or enough to lightly cover bottom of popper (Orville Redenbacher’s buttery popcorn oil is our fav)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar or white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt. (add a bit more after popping per your taste)

That’s it!


Pour popcorn oil on the bottom of popper and let the oil get hot.  Add the popcorn.  Add half of the brown sugar or the white sugar and stir it all together.


Quickly add the other half of the sugar, and stir again.  Work quickly now, because your popcorn will start to POP!!


Put the lid on now.  I might mention, that my sweet husband is the tried and true popcorn popper in this house.  My popcorn never tastes as good as his popcorn.  True story.

He does this shake thing with his hands.  Gently shake your popper back and forth . . . back and forth, back and forth, while it’s popping. Just gently slide the popper back and forth on the counter top.


Oh . . . like magic, that brown sugar or white sugar will melt all over that popcorn. When it’s done popping, you can turn that popper over and let it sit for just a minute.  It’s dang hot!


Pour that perfect popped Caramel Kettle Corn into a large bowl.  It almost comes out in one large ball. One large glazed, sweet & salty beautiful ball of deliciousness. Just break it apart a bit.


Try it with granulated white sugar & salt as well.  It’s very, very good too.


This popcorn smells sooooo good, that deer came visiting my back yard.


It never fails . . .I never have the proper lens on my camera, when they come visiting.

I know they could smell our popcorn!


If you don’t have an oil popper, use a heavy pot with a good fitting lid.  Remember to shake, shake, shake . . . so that your popcorn doesn’t burn.
