It’s raining hard.
Really hard.
Scary kind of hard . . . lightening . . . thunder . . . wind.
It’s o.k. I’m eating Ice Cream!
Healthy & good for you Ice Cream.
See.
Yes, that’s right. Creamy, soft-serve style ice cream with just one ingredient. I didn’t need sugar, dairy or even an ice cream maker!
So . . . You’re wondering,
What is this one magic ingredient that can be whipped into perfectly rich and silky ice cream?
Can you guess?
You can also make it a bit un-healthy if you’re so desired.
I was so desired!
Creamy & Smooth Banana Peanut Butter Marshmallow Chocolate Almond Ice Cream!
Oh yes . . . It’s really good.
It’s fun to sit on your front porch, eat ice cream and watch it rain.
Some of you probably like frozen bananas that are dipped in Chocolate. This is better. Much better. If you freeze a banana until solid, then blend it fiercely in a food processor, it gets creamy. When I first saw this recipe on Use Real Butter . . .I was surprised You would assume that frozen bananas would produce and ice-milk type mixture. I assumed wrong! This is a creamy, scrumptious ice cream.
It’s so simple, you’ll fall off your chair reading the recipe.
You will need four speckled bananas . . . not black bananas . . . just ripe.
Slice the bananas into a bowl and cover it with a lid or plastic wrap.
Put that bowl in the freezer overnight or for a few hours, until they are froze.
They should look like this . . . COLD!
You will need at least an 11 cup Food Processor or one hefty blender.
Place the frozen bananas inside and put it to work . . . while you watch it rain.
It will sound like it’s dying for quite a while.
You might need to take the lid off, and push it down and away from the sides.
Don’t give it any pity . . . keep it working.
It will start coming together . . . at this point it will look like lumpy mashed potatoes!
Never fear, keep blending.
Soon, you will have the most creamy smooth delicious concoction ever.
Taste it . . . it’s yummy.
I put half of my creamy Banana ice cream in a covered container and put it in the freezer.
This is where the other healthy, vegan-ish half went wrong!
I added a generous scoop of Peanut Butter.
and . . .
a generous drizzle of homemade Hot Fudge Sauce.
Mix, twirl, whirl.
YUM!
Put it in the freezer for a bit.
As you can see . . .I like my ice cream soft serve.
If you have speckled bananas lurking in your kitchen . . . freeze them quickly . . . and make rich, creamy, delicious ice cream.

My husband loves ice cream….I think I’ll have to try this!
I’ve always been a huge fan of frozen bananas as a snack, and I use them in smoothies. I’ve yet to blend it into “ice cream.” Looks so wonderful!
Such ice cream I love myself 🙂
You are a genius ! Do you think this would work with any other frozen fruit ?
Oh my heck! That is so awesome. I am going to go cut up bananas right now!!! This just may be what I need to get me through the diet and am yet to start… laughing!
This is the most incredible simple dessert I have seen for a while. I absolutely love it! I happen to have two bunches of speckled bananas on the counter and just this morning thought – oh, don’t waste them, make banana bread – but this is sooo much better! Thanks!
I’ve been using frozen bananas since I was a little girl. I wasn’t very fond of eating breakfast and my mother used to make me frozen banana milkshakes and smoothies to get something healthy in me before school.
I love just get off your butt and bake!! (the name too!) We loved this ice cream, I wasn’t completely convinced it tasted like ice cream until I tried it, it’s fantastic. My five year old son told me last night that he put more bananas in the freezer so we could have some more today. I was a little afraid of how he had placed them in the freezer, but he had cut them into slices and put them into a bowl. We are hooked, we will be stocking up on bananas!
So funny – on my blog this week I posted about this ice cream! Except I only added peanut butter to the banana. Cocoa powder or fudge sauce sounds really good!
I cannot tell you how much I love your blog! Your recipes are so creative 🙂 I knew I had to try this the second I saw it on Pinterest. What a wonderful idea!
I did a blog about it if you’d like to have a peek. Thanks again for the inspiration.

A fabulous idea! I had 2 frozen sliced bananas in the fridge and just whipped them up with some peanut butter. It was good – but it ended up being a bit, shall we say sticky? a little stringy like bananas sometimes get? It was delicious and I had no problem eating it, but I was wondering if you had any tips for making it more creamy and less banana-y. Maybe a little milk?? Thanks in advance!
