Chocolate Glazed Snickers Cookies

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is over.  I haven’t tired of Christmas decor or the music that starts playing weeks in advance.

Yesterday, I tried to force myself to take down the Christmas decor, that is scattered throughout the house.  Usually I’m quite eager to box it up, clean up and welcome the new year!

Maybe tomorrow.  Today, I’m going to enjoy it’s sparkle and the golden glow it brings at night.


Today, I’m going to bring you another yummy cookie recipe.  Today, we should all eat one cookie!

My sweet sister Heidi, texted me this cookie recipe and it’s a keeper.  The Peanut Butter Cookie itself is a real winner.  I bought the variety bag of mini snickers, which included peanut, almond and peanut butter.  They were all delicious in this cookie, but my favorite seemed to be the peanut butter snickers inside the cookie.  I’m not even a snickers candy bar fan, but this cookie is really really yummy!!!!

We all know that on January 1, 2014, the little luxuries that we’ve allowed ourselves over the holidays, will be put away, tightened up, reeled in and discipline will reign supreme!  Ohhhhhh, I can see the  running shoes & treadmills working already.  2014 marks the arrival of weight loss strategies and money advice all over the atmosphere.  I believe it’s already started. ugg.

KT0C7266wEach year, I try to make one new resolution.  It’s usually something that I’ve been slacking on and need a little kick in the butt!

I’m pondering what that is, as I write . . .

As for diet & exercise, I will probably keep doing what has worked for me until it stops working. It’s nothing fancy.  Years ago, I would get dressed up and head to the gym.  Today, I put on my running shoes and head outside or hop on my treadmill.  I also love Pilates, and swear by it. It makes your bones feel good, and if I stop doing it . . . I feel like sludge.  For weights . . . I head to the garage.  My husband seems to think they’re his!

how we live . . . simple.

On Diet & Weight:  Try to Exercise 3 to 4 times per week,  Don’t Eat out very often – Cook  healthy foods, Eat a lot of fruit & raw nuts, Don’t drink pop – Drink Water and last but not least . . . when you bake something delicious, like these cookies . . . you can only have one cookie!  Give the rest away. Desserts . . . two to three bites will satisfy.

On Spending habits:  My husband’s motto is:  “If we don’t have the cash to pay for it, we don’t buy it!”  We have followed this motto throughout our 34 years of our marriage, and we’ve tried to pass this on to our own kids.  We have only borrowed money for a home and farm ground and nothing else.  If we wanted a new car, we saved until we could BUY that new car, couch, furniture, fridge, piano, snowmobile or anything else we thought we needed.  It was very hard, and sometimes it didn’t seem fair.  I wanted that something NOW!  It’s amazing though, just how much you can save when you really need or really want something.  It’s amazing how much you spend friviously on things like smoothies, pop, energy drinks, that trip to the grocery store for one item, shoes, clothing  and eating out too often.

Credit cards? If you don’t have the money in the bank to “Pay it off completely each month,” don’t use it at all. It will make you a miserable person!

I do hope, that this New Year brings . . . Good health,  happiness and Peace of Mind and Heart to all of you.

Chocolate Glazed Snickers Cookies


  • For Cookies:
  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 60 miniature snickers
  • For Glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 4 Tbsp milk


  1. Cream butter and sugars together until light and creamy.
  2. Add eggs & vanilla and beat well until thoroughly blended.
  3. Add Peanut Butter and beat again.
  4. Beat in flour, baking powder and soda and mix well.
  5. Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  6. When the dough is chilled, using a small cookie scoop make small balls of dough.
  7. Press a round ball of dough – flat in the palm of your hand. Place an unwrapped mini snicker in the center of the dough and wrap the dough around the candy.
  8. Make sure that the candy is covered as evenly as possible.
  9. Chill the balls of dough for 15 minutes before baking.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 mins. at 350 degrees. Do not over bake.
  11. Cool cookies on parchment paper or wire rack before glazing.
  12. Glaze:
  13. Combine powdered sugar, cocoa and milk and blend until creamy. Place the glaze in a zip-lock type bag. Snip a tiny little corner for easy glazing, or pour the glaze into a squeeze bottle or you can use a fork.
  14. Make a star pattern on top of the cookies with the glaze or use a criss cross design. Sprinkle nuts or other decorations over the glaze if desired.

    Oh Jonna, these cookies look delightful… but then again, what comes out of your kitchen that DOESN’T look delightful?!? I can’t wait to try these – although I’m on that fitness bandwagon, so it will have to wait – I will PIN them for later! But you better believe I will try them, I love everything I’ve made from here 🙂
