1 teaspoon Canadian steak or Montreal Steak Seasoning
use even when making chicken)
2 Tablespoons lemon juice.
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
Mix all together with a whisk, and pour mixture over chicken or beef. Cover with saran wrap, or put it all in a zip loc baggie and let marinate overnight, or for at least 2 to 4 hours.
This marinade also makes a great sauce for stir fry as well. It’s a bit too strong left as is, so after marinating the beef or chicken in full strength marinade, take the marinade and dilute it with water until it’s the strength you desire. Bring the marinade to a simmer, and then thicken it with Cornstarch and cold water.
*Take a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch and add 2 to 3 tablespoons of COLD water. Mix until well blended. Slowly add it stirring constantly to the marinade to thicken it. You can add any veggies that you like for your stir fry.

This marinade sounds great. We just bought a grill so I’m looking for all kinds of ideas. Since we’re newbies I have to ask, what kind of beef did you use for the kabobs? How long do you cook them for?
The steak you see in the pictures is Sirloin. Cheaper cuts of meat are also very good, as long as you let them marinate a good length of time.
The longer they sit in the marinade, the more flavorful and tender it will be. Make sure that you cut your pieces against or across the grain of the steak. It makes a big difference in chew quality! As far as cooking time, it really depends of the size and thickness of your steaks or chunks for kabobs. Some also like rare! The steaks in the picture probably cooked about 4 minutes per side for medium.
I love eating grilled food, but we rarely cook with ours because it’s the charcoal kind….We get to just visit my in laws and eat theirs. =) Your meal looks delicious and those bracelets are adorable!

I just made the cherry almond pound cake for a family dinner and it was so good. I am very excited to also try this. My husband loves grilling and barbecue, so I am sure we will use this quite a bit.
How would this marinade work on pork steaks? I’m going to try it!
I’ve never tried this marinade on pork, but I do think it would be fabulous as well.
Great idea, to marinate the pork steaks, and then grill then. They will be so tender!
I also live in a place where it is not always sunny for grilling 🙂 The marinade sounds like a good basic marinade and the options for tweaking are limitless. Thanks!
I am always in need of more jewelry! And I am absolutely going to try your marinade!!
I’ll give the marinade a try real soon, but it’s that chocolate cupcake with pistachio icing that I’m craving right now!

I am always grilling throughout the year too! In fact, we cracked the glass on our grill one year using it in the middle of winter. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!
I know that this post is about marinade, but quite frankly when I checked out the picture the bread was singing to me. 🙂 Your posts are always so beautifully done and always leave me hungry.
If I win I would like the tropical explosion, it is the perfect color for a the dress that I have great difficultly finding the right jewelry for.
