TURTLE BARS

Chocolate & Caramel make the perfect pair.

When you add a Buttery Crumb Crust and Pecans,

these bars become . . . over the top dangerous!

You should come just a bit closer.

When my four girls were still living at home, I made these delicious Turtle Bars quite often.  Now that they have all flown the coop, I just don’t dare! When the hubbie doesn’t care much for chocolate, It’s much, much too risky. My will-power hides it’s tail, & these delicious bars . . . somehow attach to my hips!

For this reason . . . I ate one little one, and took the rest to my neighbors.

Thank Goodness for neighbors!

If you have neighbors who would love Turtle Bars . . . whip some up . . . and give them away.

They’re Dangerous!

Gretchen - Jonna,
What do you mean by Caramel Syrup? Could Caramel ice cream topping be used? Can’t wait to try these.
Thanks

Jonna - Hi Tonya,

1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda.January 18, 2012 – 5:14 pm

Tonya - When you say “1/2 TSP SODA” .. what type of soda? Also can I use graham cracker instead of quick oatmeal? Do you think it’ll alter the taste much?January 18, 2012 – 1:37 pm

Jonna - Thanks Jana….we also love them!

Jana - Tried these last night….so stinkin’ good!! I took them to a meeting I had this morning so I wouldn’t be tempted to eat all the rest of them by myself today!! I’m posting these on my recipe blog today (or possible tomorrow!):) Thanks for great recipes!!!October 6, 2011 – 10:49 am

Jonna - Oh Monica….I’m so sorry! I’m not sure what could have happened. I’ve never had a problem removing the bars when I use Parchment paper. The brand we find around here, is Reynolds. These are one of my favorites, so try try again. I’ve also made these without Parchment paper, but you need to spray your glass baking dish well.
When the bars come out of the oven, take a knife and go around the edges….quickly, so that they don’t stick. In fact, I do it several times….while they are cooling.
Hope this will help,

Monica - Hey! Love your website! I wanted to share with you my experience with the turtle bars. Not sure what I did wrong, but they stuck horribly to the parchment paper. And I even sprayed it with veg. spray for a little insurance. It was a total loss – had to toss them out. Any advise? Thanks! :) September 29, 2011 – 7:32 pm

Jonna - Hi there,

Kira - These were so delicious! We loved them. My three years old is still confused why they are called turtle bars, but they have chocolate, so he did not hesitate to eat them. Printed and added to my recipe book. Thanks. (We also loved the one ingredient ice cream – I actually prefer it served soft as opposed to frozen. It was so creamy.)July 21, 2011 – 11:51 am

Aimee - yum. I love anything with caramel. Yum (did I say that yet?)
